Submissions

The Journal only publishes material written by its members. With the exception of submissions for the Farnsworth Competition, through which JLSP solicits Notes from non-staff law students, unsolicited manuscripts will not be accepted, returned, or acknowledged.

E. Allan Farnsworth Competition Information

The Journal considers student Notes from non-staff law students (2Ls, 3Ls, and LLMs) at Columbia and other law schools during the annual Farnsworth Competition. As JLSP is a general-interest journal, Notes on any and all subject matter, written from any point of view, will be considered. Creativity and innovation are encouraged, as well as Notes involving original empirical research. Notes should be 25-50 double-spaced pages. Submissions should include a short synopsis (no more than two paragraphs), an explanation of how the Note makes a unique contribution to legal scholarship (no more than one paragraphs), and a thorough preemption memo that distinguishes similar scholarship.

The Journal will begin accepting submissions for the 2024-2025 Farnsworth Competition in Fall 2024.
